The largest round of school closures in American history hit Chicago this week as 50 schools were shut down. Ed explains who the real heroes are and John Nichols of The Nation Magazine breaks down all the details.
This is the front line on the war against public education. Instead of fixing schools that serve as so much more to their communities than schools, especially poor inner city neighborhoods where schools are sanctuaries, hubs, foundations of identity and culture, corporate backed politicians want to create corporate run schools based on test results and profit. Wake the fuck up America. Not only has corporate America taken over political system, siphoned off middle class wages, destroyed unions, now they are going after the last prize, our children.
